Information You Submit
Search Terms
When a name, county, location, or other search term is entered into a sponsored search tool, that query is sent to the third-party provider operating the tool. Jackson County Inmate Population does not keep a separate local log of those search terms.
Messages
If you email or send a message to the site, the information in that message may be kept long enough to read it, respond, and manage the request. It is not shared outside the organization unless a legal obligation requires disclosure.
Information Collected Automatically
Like most websites, technical information may be collected when pages load or links are used.
- Internet Protocol address.
- Browser type and browser version.
- Device type and operating system.
- Pages viewed and time spent on pages.
- Referring website, when one is available.
- Date and time stamps.
Cookies
Cookies and similar tools may be used to understand site traffic, advertising performance, and visitor behavior. A browser can block or delete cookies, but some features may not behave the same way when cookies are disabled.
How Information Is Used
- To keep the site available, functional, and reasonably fast.
- To send search requests to the partner service selected by the visitor.
- To understand which pages and resources are useful.
- To diagnose broken links, errors, traffic patterns, and security issues.
- To display advertising that may be relevant to general visitor interests.
External Sites
Pages may link to the Jackson County Sheriff's Department, Jackson County government, Indiana MyCase, IDOC, Indiana SAVIN/VINE, BOP, ICE, and third-party search providers. Once a visitor follows an outside link, that site's privacy policy and terms control the visit.
Public records held by Indiana or Jackson County agencies are controlled by those agencies and by the laws that apply to them, including Indiana's Access to Public Records Act, IC 5-14-3, when applicable. This policy covers data handled by this private site, not records maintained by a sheriff, court, clerk, or corrections agency.
Advertising partners may use their own systems to recognize activity across websites for interest-based ads. That activity is handled by the advertising network, not by Jackson County Inmate Population's local records.
