Jackson County Jail Roster Links
The official custody starting point is the Jackson County sheriff roster landing page. It offers two local choices: Current Inmates for people presently held at Jackson County Jail and 48 Hour Release for people released from that jail within the prior release window. Research found both list pages showing a maintenance message, but the landing page and an individual profile page still provided useful roster structure. That means the correct user path is not a third-party lookup site. Start with the official sheriff page, then use the jail phone, records request route, Indiana SAVIN/VINE, the sheriff mobile app, and state or federal locators as needed.
The roster is a county jail tool. It covers the Jackson County Jail population, including pretrial detainees, warrant arrests, local sentence inmates, parole or probation holds, and people sentenced to Indiana Department of Correction custody while waiting for an IDOC bed. It is not a certified court record, and the roster disclaimer says the jail cannot certify the accuracy or authenticity of the information. Bond, charges, and case numbers should be confirmed with jail staff before money is posted or legal decisions are made.
The official roster landing page is shown in the screenshot captured from the Jackson County sheriff roster page.
The two-link layout matters because Jackson County separates current jail custody from the short release list instead of exposing a visible name-search box on the landing page.
Use the Jackson County Roster
The Jackson County Jail roster should be used as a sequence, not as one search box. During research, no visible text field appeared on the roster landing page or maintenance pages. A person with only a name may need to open the current list, browse the records when the list is live, and then open a profile. A person with a booking number may see that number in a profile URL, but the public pages reviewed did not show a field where a booking number could be typed directly.
- Open the official roster landing page on the sheriff domain and choose the county jail list, not a commercial inmate site.
- Select Current Inmates to check whether the person is presently held at Jackson County Jail.
- Select 48 Hour Release if the person was recently in custody but no longer appears on the current list.
- If the list is offline, call the jail at (812) 358-1982 for time-sensitive custody or bond questions.
- Open the individual profile when available and compare the booking number, booking date, arresting agency, charge, and bond fields.
- For a sentenced person who moved out of local jail custody, search the IDOC incarcerated locator.
- For custody notice after release or transfer, use Indiana VINE or Indiana SAVIN rather than relying only on the roster.
Jackson County also has the Jackson County Sheriff IN mobile app. The official sheriff release says the app includes an inmate roster, road conditions, National Weather Service alerts, and public-safety features. Research did not prove that the app has a different roster than the website, so it should be treated as another official access channel, not a guaranteed app-only database.
Jackson County Roster Fields
The roster navigation is simple and local. It does not match statewide or federal locator forms that ask for last name, first name, number, race, age, and sex. The Jackson County pages reviewed used list links and a generated booking-number profile parameter. This field table preserves what the official roster pages exposed during research.
| Field Label | Type | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Current Inmates | Link | Optional | Opens the current-inmate list at roster.php; the list was offline for maintenance during research. |
| 48 Hour Release | Link | Optional | Opens the release list for people released from Jackson County Jail within the last 48 hours. |
| Search text box | Not visible | Not applicable | No public name or booking-number text field was visible on the reviewed pages. |
| Booking number parameter | URL parameter | Optional | Individual detail pages use a booking_num query parameter, such as roster_view.php?booking_num=115529. |
| Buttons | Not visible | Not applicable | No Search, Submit, Reset, or Clear button was visible on the accessible roster pages during maintenance. |
Jackson County Inmate Profile
An accessible sample profile showed the kind of information that can appear once a Jackson County Jail roster record is opened. The profile is useful, but it is not final proof of custody, court charge status, or bond eligibility. The sample warning says charges and bail may change after court appearances and may not be current. It also directs bond companies and people posting bail to contact jail staff for correct bail, current charges, and case numbers.
| Field | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Name | Full inmate name on the roster detail page. |
| Image/photo | A booking-photo or image slot appears on the individual profile. |
| Booking Number | Numeric booking identifier used in the profile and roster_view URL. |
| Age, gender, race | Public demographic fields visible on the inspected sample profile. |
| Address | Address or city and state field visible on the sample. |
| Arresting Agency | Agency responsible for arrest or booking. |
| Booking Date/Time | Date and time tied to the jail booking. |
| Charges | Charge descriptions with Indiana Code or statute-style references where present. |
| Bond | Bond amount or type, subject to change and jail confirmation. |
| Redactions | Social Security number, medical details, and detailed victim data were not shown in the sample. |

The profile format supports the local records workflow: use the roster for jail booking facts, then verify court and bond changes through jail staff and MyCase.
Jackson County Jail Contact
The jail phone is the practical fallback when the online list is offline, when a bond entry looks old, or when the person may be in intake but not yet visible online. Administrative office hours are different from jail custody operation, so urgent jail-status questions should use the jail line and emergency public-safety issues should use 911.

County, State, Federal Lookup
Jackson County inmate records split by custody system. A person held before trial, held on a county sentence, arrested on a warrant, or temporarily backed up for IDOC may appear through Jackson County Jail. A person who has transferred to state prison is searched through IDOC. A federal prisoner is searched through the Bureau of Prisons locator, and an immigration detainee is searched through ICE ODLS. Indiana SAVIN and VINE are notification services, not full replacements for the sheriff roster.
| Custody System | Best Starting Point | What It Covers |
|---|---|---|
| Jackson County Jail | Sheriff roster or jail phone | Pretrial detainees, warrants, local sentences, probation/parole holds, and some IDOC back-ups. |
| Indiana state prison | IDOC offender locator service | Sentenced state custody, facility assignment, and DOC number. |
| Federal custody | BOP inmate locator | Federal inmates from 1982 to present, with release date and location fields. |
| Immigration custody | ICE Online Detainee Locator | People currently in ICE custody or CBP custody more than 48 hours. |
| Notification | Indiana SAVIN offender search | Custody and case status notification when supported by the system. |
Lookup distinction: The Jackson County roster is the local jail record. IDOC, BOP, ICE, and VINE serve different custody or notification roles.
Jackson County Booking Records
Jackson County does not publish a full intake manual, but official jail pages show the main local markers. A person may be booked after a new arrest, a warrant arrest, a court sentence, a probation or parole hold, or a state back-up transfer. People reporting to jail may bring dentures, eyeglasses, hearing aids, money, prescriptions, and a soft-cover Bible. Items not allowed are placed in property storage for release. Essential items such as clothing, deodorant, soap, shampoo, toothbrush, and toothpaste are provided, while optional items can be bought through commissary.
The county incarceration page says all inmates enter as class one offenders for good-time purposes and may be reclassified if rules are broken. Phone access runs from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. daily unless the inmate or facility is on lockdown. Booking may appear before a MyCase criminal case is filed because jail intake happens before prosecutor review and court indexing. If the arrest is tied to a warrant from an older case, MyCase may already have a court history before the new jail booking.
For filed charges and court events after booking, use Jackson County court records after jail arrest rather than relying on the jail roster alone.
Jackson County Jail Visitation
The sheriff jail page says visitation at Jackson County Jail is video only through CIDNET/Encartele. One free 20-minute visit per week is allowed, but the free visit must be conducted on jail lobby kiosks. Additional visits may be purchased and used from a phone, tablet, or computer. The county visitation page still lists on-site visitor rules, which apply to lobby and facility conduct. Visitors must sign in, show picture ID, be old enough under the rule, follow dress limits, and obey officer decisions made for safety or security.
| Rule / Schedule Item | Jackson County Jail Detail |
|---|---|
| Visit type | Video visitation only per sheriff jail page. |
| Registration vendor | CIDNET / Encartele; customer service 1-866-476-6723. |

| Paid remote visits | Additional visits may be purchased for phone, tablet, or computer use. |

Mail, Money, and Records
Mail should be addressed to the inmate at Jackson County Jail, with the pod included if known, and must include a return address. The county rejects mail without a return address and limits clippings, internet printouts, pornography, gang or hate publications, stickers, glitter, and similar restricted items. Legal mail must be marked legal, confidential, attorney-client, or privileged. Books must be soft cover, and most publications must come new from the publisher.
The lobby kiosk accepts cash, debit, or credit cards and is listed as always available. Money orders may be mailed with the inmate name and location on the envelope and money order, but they should not be sent with letters or books. Jail employees accept no cash. Commissary is handled through JailATM, and phone accounts use Securus Technology with Correctional Billing Services for account support.
Public-record requests are the fallback for booking records, reports, or photographs not available online. Indiana APRA requires a request to identify records with reasonable particularity, so include full name, booking date, arresting agency, booking number, report number, and requested format when known. The sheriff fee schedule lists police reports, crash reports, and criminal history checks at $5 each, 35mm photograph copies at $3 per picture, and digital photographs at $1 per picture. Booking photos are covered in more detail on the Jackson County jail mugshots page.
Note: Confirm custody status before sending funds, setting a visit, or relying on a roster bond field.
